Description

Overview

The HaseMed Bedpan with Lid in Stainless Steel (approx. 31 cm diameter) is a heavy-duty, fully reusable bedpan built for clinical wards, nursing homes, rehabilitation units and demanding home-care settings. Unlike disposable or plastic alternatives, this all-metal pan is autoclavable, dimensionally stable and resistant to the aggressive cleaning and disinfection cycles that professional care environments require. The wide, flanged rim and integrated loop handle give caregivers a secure grip when positioning the pan under a bedridden patient, while the deep bowl and matching stainless steel lid help contain odour, splashes and visible contents between use and disposal.

Highlights & Benefits

  • Solid stainless steel construction: Rust-proof, dent-resistant metal body that keeps its shape over thousands of cleaning cycles, unlike plastic bedpans that crack, stain or warp under repeated use.
  • Autoclavable and fully reusable: Withstands steam sterilisation, thermal disinfection in washer-disinfectors and all common surface disinfectants, making it suitable for shared clinical use.
  • Tight-fitting stainless lid: The domed cover with central knob sits flush on the rim to reduce odour, limit splash exposure and protect patient dignity during transport to the sluice room.
  • Ergonomic loop handle (approx. 12 cm): Long enough for a confident single-handed grip, smooth-welded to the body with no hygiene traps, and curved to keep the caregiver's hand clear of the rim.
  • Wide 31 cm flanged rim: Spreads load comfortably across the patient's hips and lower back, improving stability during use and lowering the risk of tipping.
  • Smooth, seamless interior: Polished bowl surface prevents residue build-up, rinses clean quickly and keeps visual inspection easy between uses.
  • Long service life: Designed to outlast plastic equivalents, lowering total cost of ownership for wards and care facilities that cycle bedpans daily.

Use Cases

  • Hospital wards and acute care: A durable workhorse for post-operative, geriatric, neurology and palliative units where bedpans are thermally disinfected between patients.
  • Nursing and care homes: Reliable daily solution for residents with limited mobility, including overnight use when discretion and quiet handling matter.
  • Rehabilitation clinics: Supports patients recovering from orthopaedic surgery, stroke or spinal injury who cannot yet mobilise to the bathroom.
  • Home care and long-term care: A hygienic, easy-to-clean option for family caregivers and outpatient nursing services attending bedbound patients at home.
  • Hospice and palliative settings: Quiet, secure handling with the lid in place helps preserve dignity for patients in end-of-life care.

Application

Before first use, wash the bedpan and lid thoroughly and disinfect according to your facility's hygiene protocol. In use, grasp the loop handle firmly, ask the patient to raise their hips (or assist with a repositioning technique), and slide the pan carefully under the pelvis so the wide rim supports the lower back. Keep the patient covered for privacy and warmth. After use, seat the stainless steel lid on the rim and carry the pan by the handle to the sluice or bathroom. Empty, rinse, clean and disinfect the pan and lid separately, then dry both components before storage. For facilities with washer-disinfectors or autoclaves, the pan and lid can be processed together at the standard thermal cycle.

  • Prepare the bed, position the patient and slide the bedpan gently under the pelvis using the handle.
  • Allow use, then place the lid squarely on the rim to contain odour and splashes during transport.
  • Empty, rinse with cold water first, then wash and disinfect (manual or machine) before drying and storing.

Available Variants

  • 1 piece — single bedpan with matching stainless steel lid, ideal for home care or as a replacement unit.
  • 3 pieces — economical multi-pack for wards, care homes and rehabilitation units that need several pans in rotation.

Notes

This is the stainless steel version of the HaseMed 31 cm bedpan range and is designed for facilities that require a fully autoclavable, long-life metal pan. If you need a lighter weight or lower-cost option for short-term use, the plastic HaseMed bedpan with lid in the same 31 cm size is also available. Avoid abrasive pads and chlorine-based cleaners at high concentration to preserve the polished surface; standard alkaline or quaternary ammonium disinfectants are fully compatible. Store the pan and lid dry and separately to prevent trapped moisture.
